Different types of beauty products have been used for millennia. Most women have never settled for their natural look and have always looked for ways to improve it. While we use moisturisers, exfoliants, serums, and so on at night, the days are reserved for powders, foundations, blush, mascara, etc. – the makeup mask, literally. Even though the cosmetics industry has evolved greatly over the years, makeup is still a thing we would be better without.

No matter how expensive or new and improved you makeup is, it is essentially blocking your skin’s pores. How would you feel if someone put their hands on your mouth and nose? You won’t be able to breathe? That’s exactly how your skin feels when you cover it up. The longer you use makeup, the more long-term effects it will have on your look. Sure, a formal event is a good excuse for you to go all out on the foundation, but on an everyday basis? Let your skin breather and you will notice it repaying you only after a few weeks!

And keep in mind that the effects are not limited to the outside. Those same pores that take in the air, also take on whatever else is covering them, meaning that the chemicals used in the manufacturing of your foundation and powder actually make their way into your bloodstream. Do you think that’s good? It most definitely isn’t. The way your body looks on the inside has a major influence on how it looks on the outside – the healthier you are, the healthier you will look.

There are two other great benefits to not wearing makeup – you will save money and time. Instead of spending your weekly pay check on resupplying your makeup bag and instead of getting up an hour too early to put all your makeup on, you will have money for better things and really have the chance to get your beauty sleep. It’s called beauty sleep for a reason.

It all sounds great, but giving up makeup is not such an easy thing, is it? If you cover up your face every day, you probably hate the way you look – the white spots, the uneven complexion, the dark circles under your eyes, etc. Is there a way for you to look better without makeup? It won’t be easy at first, make no mistake. You just have to be determined and stick with your decision – it will pay off really soon.

The first thing you have to do, as mentioned above, is change your sleep routine – if you get at least 8-9 hours a night, there will be no dark circles to cover up. Another very important thing is to drink plenty of water – really a lot of water. Properly hydrated skin looks smooth and radiant, plus the water helps your organism flush all toxins out.

The other very important thing to keep in mind is to wash your face on a regular basis, almost religiously. Wash it every morning and every evening with a mild soap and exfoliate it once or twice a week. If your eyes look really puffy in the morning, you could splash a bit of cold water on your face and the puffiness will disappear like magic. Don’t squeeze your spots – the lesser you irritate them, the lesser they will irritate you.

Change your diet to include as many fruits and vegetables as possible. Again, a healthy body invokes a healthy appearance so try to stick to a good diet as best you can.

Smile, smile, smile! A smile is the best makeup any woman can ever wear. Make the most of it.
