Push Doctor has acquired its first NHS contract, providing virtual consultations with GPs. The service is currently being piloted at a central Birmingham practice, Halcyon Medical, and will eventually be rolled out to practices in the two primary care networks. The partnership, which comprises of over 400 practices, has said that the GPs who use the service will be selected by the practice. In addition to the GPs, the platform will also allow patients to access a pharmacy that offers the same services as a GP.
Push Doctor was founded in 2013, and has been available to patients since 2015. The founder, Eren Ozagir, decided to launch the service after he fell ill while on business. The symptoms were so severe that he did not want to wait for his home country to see a doctor, and he did not want to spend hours chasing after a busy doctor. Eren Ozagir, co-founder of Push Doctor, previously worked as a CCO/CMO at MusicMagpie, Commercial Director at Music Zone, and he studied at the University of Leeds.
Push Doctor is the UK's first video consultation platform, allowing users to book appointments and talk with a GP remotely. Patients can use their smartphone or tablet to view video consultations with doctors. In addition to providing consultations, the platform also offers prescriptions, sick notes, and referral letters. The platform is NHS-commissioned and HIPAA-compliant. The company was founded in July 2013 by Matt Elcock and Eren Ozagir and raised $1.2 million in seed funding. In mid-2015, Push Doctor aired a television commercial that garnered widespread attention.
