Store's Description
Many people have expressed dissent over the EUs decision to regulate the sale of agricultural products in the form of biofuels. Hundreds of protesters have been arrested in Belgium, France, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, and some of them have clashed with police. In Luxembourg, a protester was shot by police after he tried to enter the market without a vaccination certificate. Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, protesters have set bicycles on fire and thrown projectiles at police.
This protest in Europe has been triggered by recent events. The May 2020 death of Black American George Floyd sparked demonstrations in several EU countries, including Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, Portugal, the UK, and Slovenia. Protesters have called for the government to take action and make changes to workplace conditions and pay. Some protestors have been arrested as a result of the demonstrations, and the French police have used tear gas against protestors on International Womens Day.
In 2005, four Ukrainians formed an environmental group, but were denied registration by the authorities based on administrative technicalities. They ended up having to dissolve their group. After the European court ruled against the Ukrainian government, the government of Ukraine created a new Law on Civil Associations which protects such groups. Another case involved a human rights NGO that planned a public demonstration in Armenia to commemorate a man who died in police custody. The ban was invalid and violated the right to free assembly. After the ruling, Armenia enacted reforms to protect the right to hold public demonstrations.
