Store's Description
When it comes to wine, Laithwaites has a reputation for offering real gems that you can't find anywhere else. With more than 40,000 wines in their inventory, Laithwaites has a good idea of what you can expect before you buy. You can also rest easy knowing that each bottle is guaranteed to be of a high quality and comes with a 100% money-back guarantee.
Founded in 1969 by Tony Laithwaite, Laithwaites aims to provide its customers with a great wine buying experience. The company's professionals test around 40,000 samples of wine each year, but only about 800 make the cut. The company's wines have received high praise from the wine buying public, including royalty. Their range includes Cremant de Limoux, Croatian indigenous white wine, Provence rose, and many more.
The wine-making business started slowly. In the late 1960s, Tony Laithwaite was a self-described mediocre student. He dabbled in painting and sculpting. After he became interested in France after watching a TV series about Maigret, Laithwaite's grandmother set up a digging site near Bordeaux, where he could work on his art. In addition to his studies, he had a house to stay in with Jean Cassin, the manager of the Lussac Saint-Emilion wine cooperative.
The wine club is designed to be convenient for customers. They can manage their membership online and receive shipping notifications and tracking numbers. If they need to cancel their membership, all they need to do is call during business hours. The glossy colour cards are filled with detailed tasting notes for each wine, as well as information about its region and winemakers. They also include interesting wine trivia and recipes for food pairings.
