Fought on October 14, 1066, the Battle of Hastings had been one of the most important events in Britain’s history. It was a battle between King Harold Godwinson’s English Army and William the Conqueror’s Norman-French Army, which resulted to the Norman victory that forever changed Britain. Today, the historic event has spawned annual reenactments at the site of the battle, drawing thousands spectators and participants.
Features
The mint stunningly portrays a scene from the historic battle, which is struck in high-quality solid bronze by Worcestershire Medal Service for the London Mint Office. Double dates 1066 to 2016 are found on the medal’s reverse, surrounded by intricate Bayeux Tapestry and twin tapestry eagles. This 36mm medal has maximum mintage of 95,000.
